As our club continues to grow and evolve, it's worth exploring new opportunities that can strengthen our race day experience, attract new members, and keep karting fun and affordable. One great way to do that is by adding a Briggs & Stratton LO206 class to our lineup.

 What is the LO206?

The LO206 is a sealed 4-stroke engine known for its reliability, low maintenance, and close, competitive racing. It's one of the most popular grassroots karting engines in North America, supported by a large network of parts and tuning knowledge.

Benefits of Adding an LO206 Class

✅ 1. Affordable Entry Point

LO206 is one of the most budget-friendly ways to get into karting, with engines under $1,000 new and low operating costs. It’s perfect for:

  • New racers

  • Families

  • Racers looking to scale back from high-maintenance 2-strokes

✅ 2. Even Playing Field

LO206 engines are factory-sealed, making the racing more about driver skill than deep pockets. This levels the playing field and keeps competition tight and exciting.

✅ 3. Increased Participation

Clubs that add LO206 classes often see strong turnouts, since many drivers already own LO206 karts or are looking for a reason to buy in. It's a gateway for:

  • Former racers to return

  • New members to join

  • Other motorsport enthusiasts to give karting a shot

✅ 4. Nationally Recognized Platform

LO206 is recognized by many karting organizations across the U.S. and Canada. By adding this class, we align ourselves with a wider racing community, making it easier to host or attend regional invitational events.

✅ 5. Fun, Close Racing

LO206 races are known for tight battles, clean racing, and tons of passing. The engines are torque-heavy but forgiving, creating a fun experience for drivers of all skill levels.

What’s Next?

Let’s start a conversation. Would you race LO206 if we offered it? Do you have a kart already? Interested in trying one out?

If enough racers show interest, we can:

  • Hold demo days or test sessions

  • Set rules and weight classes (Junior / Senior / Masters)

  • Launch a full points class

Adding LO206 is a small change that could make a big impact. Let’s keep building momentum and growing our racing family!
