MGKA PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE (2026)

Subject: A Heartfelt Thank You & Looking Ahead

Dear Maui Go Karters Association Members,

As many of you may already know, I will soon be leaving Maui and transitioning out of my role as acting President of MGKA. Before doing so, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what this club has meant to me and express my gratitude to everyone who helped bring new life back into MGKA over the past year.

When I stepped into this position, the club was at a crossroads. Activity had slowed, the facility needed attention, and there was uncertainty surrounding the future of organized karting on Maui. Despite those challenges, I believed MGKA still had something special worth fighting for — not just the track itself, but the community behind it.

Together, we began rebuilding.

Over the last year, we restored momentum to the club through improved participation, expanded practice opportunities, renewed outreach efforts, safety improvements, and the return of timed competitive events for the first time in many years. We welcomed new members, introduced more people to karting through the demo kart program, and brought energy back to the facility that had been missing for quite some time.

None of that happened because of one person. It happened because members showed up. Volunteers gave their time. Racers supported one another. Board members stayed committed even when progress was slow and difficult. Every person who helped clean the track, attend events, spread the word, mentor new drivers, or simply continue believing in the club played a role in helping MGKA move forward again.

I truly hope the foundation we’ve rebuilt together continues to grow long after my departure.

While I may no longer be physically present on the island, I am not disappearing from the club. I will remain active in an advisory role on the board, continue maintaining the MGKA website, and assist with marketing and promotional efforts however I can from afar. As many of you know, I will also continue serving as the authorized BirelART dealer for Hawaii, so I’ll still be available to help club members with karts, parts, and support whenever needed. MGKA still means a great deal to me, and I want to continue supporting its future in any way possible.

My hope is that the club continues moving forward in a positive direction — not only by growing participation and events, but by preserving the welcoming and passionate spirit that makes grassroots karting special. Maui has an incredibly unique racing community, and I firmly believe MGKA has the potential to continue becoming something the island can be proud of again.

Thank you to everyone who supported me during my time serving as President. The friendships, experiences, and memories I’ve gained through this club are something I’ll always carry with me. It has genuinely been an honor to help guide MGKA through this rebuilding chapter.

I look forward to seeing the club continue progressing, and I’ll always be cheering MGKA on from wherever I may be.

Mahalo for everything, and I hope to see you all at the track again soon.

With gratitude,

Adam Auerbach
President, Maui Go Karters Association
