Practice Sessions at Maui Go Karters Association

Want to sharpen your skills and get your kart dialed in for race day? Join us for our weekly Saturday practice sessions from 9 AM to around 4 PM at the Maui Go Kart Track!

Practice Fees

• Youth (Under 18): $20.00
• Adult: $30.00
• We accept cash, check, and credit/debit card payments.

Track Assistance & Maintenance
Track management is available to assist with mechanical issues and provide suggestions. However, we strongly recommend bringing your own tools and spare parts in case repairs or adjustments are needed.

General Practice Rules

• All drivers must sign a waiver before participating. If the driver is a minor, a parent or guardian must also sign a minor waiver.
• Wristbands are mandatory—all drivers must wear a designated wristband. Non-drivers wishing to enter the staging area or pit lane must also sign a waiver and wear a wristband.
• Pets are not allowed at the track for safety reasons.

Track & Pit Area Safety

• No unauthorized personnel on the track—only drivers and officials are permitted in the racing area.
• Proper safety gear is required—all drivers must wear:
  • A full-face helmet (meeting Snell standards)
  • Approved racing suit or jacket/pants combination
  • Gloves, racing footwear or closed-toe shoes, chest, rib, and neck protection (per MGKA rules)
• Speed limits apply in the pit area—idle speed only. No aggressive driving outside the track.
• Karts must enter and exit the track only at designated points—no stopping on the track except in emergencies.
• Only karts meeting safety standards are allowed on the track. Karts must be properly maintained, with brakes, fuel lines, and tires in good condition.
• Dividing Practice Sessions – If practice becomes too busy, karts will be divided into separate sessions based on class and skill level. This ensures a safer and more organized practice environment for all drivers.
• Kid Kart Session – Runs separately, with no other classes allowed on the track during their session. This ensures a safe and controlled environment for our youngest drivers to develop their skills.
• No refueling in pit lane—use designated fuel areas and always have a fire extinguisher nearby.
• No running engines under pit stalls—all engine warm-ups must be done in an open area away from pit stalls to prevent fire hazards and excessive exhaust exposure.

On-Track Etiquette

• Obey all flags and track official instructions at all times.
• Pass safely—no reckless overtaking.
• Spinouts or breakdowns—if you stop on track, raise your hand to signal others and wait for assistance.
• No contact racing—deliberate bumping or aggressive driving may result in penalties.

Test-Drive Procedures
Test-drives are allowed on Practice Days only. Before participating, you must first confirm your test drive with a Board Member for approval. Once confirmed, follow these steps:

1. Pay the required registration/insurance fee.
2. Sign the insurance waiver and receive your wristband.
3. This is a one-day-only allowance. Any future test drives will require an MGKA membership.
4. If these procedures are not followed, we are not insured. No exceptions. If this rule is broken, the owner of the kart being driven will be held responsible and may be suspended from the track and any related MGKA functions.
