MGKA PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Subject: 2025 Year-in-Review & A Look Ahead to 2026

Dear Maui Go Karters Association Members,

As we close out 2025, I’m proud to share how far we’ve come together during what has been one of the most important rebuilding years for MGKA in recent memory. When I stepped into this role, our club was running on a limited schedule and the facility needed attention. This year, thanks to your support, we’ve started to restore momentum and move MGKA back toward the vibrant karting community it once was—and position it for an even stronger future.

Through the dedication of our volunteers, board members, and passionate racers, we’ve seen a meaningful rise in membership and activity. What was previously an every-other-week practice schedule has grown into a more active, engaged community with renewed energy at the track.

Track safety has been a top priority. In 2025, we completed key safety upgrades including expanded run-off areas, crack sealing, and other surface improvements to provide a safer and more enjoyable experience for our drivers. We also added another kart to our demo fleet to strengthen our arrive-and-drive program, giving newcomers a chance to experience the thrill of karting firsthand before committing to membership. This program is an important part of growing the club from the ground up.

One of the biggest milestones this year was hosting MGKA’s first-ever time attack event, which was also our first officially timed and scored competition in more than six years. We welcomed eight shifter karts and two TaG karts to the timed sessions—a solid turnout and an encouraging sign as we look forward to increased participation in all classes and continue rebuilding the competitive side of the club. The event brought great energy back to the track and served as a key stepping stone toward future wheel-to-wheel racing.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to our board members and every club member who contributed time and effort this year. From maintaining the track and helping with events to welcoming new participants and spreading the word about MGKA, your support is the reason we’ve been able to regain momentum.

Looking ahead to 2026, our goals include strengthening member retention and participation, expanding and solidifying our event calendar, improving the track’s appearance and overall presentation, continuing safety upgrades, and growing our demo kart program to bring in more first-time drivers. We also plan to increase our marketing and community outreach to raise awareness of MGKA and attract new participants, while offering meaningful opportunities for both newcomers and experienced racers.

Thank you again for being part of this turning point year for MGKA. Your enthusiasm and commitment make this more than just a racetrack—they make it a community. I’m excited to see what we can accomplish together in 2026.

Mahalo, and see you at the track!
